Frequently Asked Questions

Is the permanent makeup procedure painful?

“Generally, no. I always strive to make every client as comfortable as possible. Most usually they experience minimal to no pain at all. I apply anesthetics both before the procedure and during the procedure to ensure that discomfort is kept to a minimum.”

Why do you recommend dry healing aftercare when other places recommend applying products to the brows post-procedure?

“I have found that dry healing gives better retention results. The most important reason for dry healing is less risk of irritation and allergic reactions, which can not only affect retention but scar the procedure area. With dry healing, you allow the body to heal itself, activating your immune system without any added products. Of course, each person is evaluated individually; should one need a product due to skin type or procedure reactions, we will recommend accordingly.”

How long does Permanent Makeup last?

“The average is 1 to 3 years for richness in color and shape. Again it is permanent, but the color will fade over time. It varies from person to person because it is heavily affected by lifestyle and care (ie sun exposure, product use, skin type, climate changes, etc). I recommend yearly touch-ups for brows and every two years for lips and eyes. This will help keep the color-rich and the shape intact.”

How much downtime will I need?

“None! Most clients have their procedure done and then go back to work or go about their day. We just ask you to clean the post-procedure area before you go to bed with mild soapy water or green soap provided by the specialist. Just be sure to keep the area dry and clean. That’s it!”

If it is semi-permanent, will it disappear completely?

“This is a common misconception. Permanent makeup requires infrequent maintenance. Fading of your tattoo will happen slowly over time and may get to a point where it is undetectable by you, but there are no guarantees. In order to maintain its color, shape, and detail, refresh appointments are needed. The length of time and condition of fading is unique to the individual - variables to consider are lifestyle choices, skin health/integrity, use of skincare products, age, and also techniques/technology within the cosmetic tattoo industry. For most people, their tattoo will last between 1-3 years before booking a refresh.”

Do I need a touch-up?

“Touch-ups are highly recommended. Due to the uniqueness of each individual and the superficial nature of the tattoo itself, touch-ups provide an opportunity to assess how your skin responds to the procedure. Touch-ups provide an opportunity to make any adjustments necessary while also lengthening the longevity of your tattoo. These sessions are not included in the initial price and need to be booked between 6-12 weeks from the time of your first session.”

How do I proceed if I have previous work done by another artist?

“Previous work can be tricky. The current state of your tattoo, and understanding your expectations will help your artist offer advice and help achieve the desired result. All coverups must be pre-approved before booking. Photo of the desired coverup area will be required to determine your illegibility.”

Can all three procedures be combined in one date appointment?

“Absolutely yes! Creating a full look for my clients is so much more exciting than do it separately. Just let me know in advance you are interested in getting all 3 areas done so I could reserve enough time for you.”
